Meet Our Expert: Dr. Laura Fuentes
EmpowerHer proudly introduces Dr. Laura Fuentes, a leading voice in women’s health physiotherapy. With over 20 years of clinical experience, Laura has dedicated her career to improving care for women, focusing on pelvic health, oncology, and the integration of gender perspectives in healthcare.
Her academic journey is as impressive as her clinical work. Laura has authored 24 scientific articles, 21 of which explore gender and women’s health, promoting an inclusive, evidence-based approach to physiotherapy. In 2023, she contributed to a CIGE research project and collaborated on a groundbreaking initiative between the Generalitat Valenciana and the University of Valencia to study the prevalence of female genital mutilation in Gambia and Senegal. She also serves as a member of the University’s Equality Unit and has supervised a doctoral thesis on therapeutic exercise for breast cancer survivors.

Her commitment to teaching, research, and clinical practice continues to shape the future of women’s health physiotherapy, ensuring that gender equality and inclusivity remain at the heart of healthcare.
